Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. Turn from evil and do good ;seek peace and pursue it. - Psalm 34:12-14How would you feel if you found a site pretending to be yours but is not and it's intention is to hurt you and those near you? This stuff is usually reserved for public figures and angry fans, not regular peace-loving citizens like my sis-in-law. The other day she shared how someone had created a site on multiply.com pretending to be her and began posting things for the purpose of hurting her. This was painful. A little background, my sis one of kindest I know among our species. Sure she has her flaws but not one that warrants a full-fledged effort to defame her. I realized from her story how real identity theft/terrorism is, though this may ba a mild form of it. Technology is amoral. It's a sad day when a few choose to use it to sow seeds of evil in cyberspace. Ultimately we can't prevent anyone to lie about who they are. Hopefully our true friends and loved ones will attest to the truth of our character and disprove the lies others say about us online or otherwise. Here are some ideas which may help curb incidents like that online: - Live at peace with everyone.
- Use Multiply's ACCESS feature when designating who should be allowed to see what you've posted.
- Choose carefully what you post for the public keeping in mind that both the righteous and the axis of evil (hehe) can gain access to it.
- Send a message of peace to the poser/post-er with a desire to resolve any valid (true/real) issues.
- Report any incidents to the site administrator for immediate action.
Have you experienced anything like this? What did you do? Have any suggestions of how to deal with such issues? Do share...
After a heated argument over traffic, a lawyer shot dead two people in Pasig City Tuesday. LinkThis incident happened just around the corner from where we live. This happened today when it was raining and the traffic was heavy. Read the rest on the Inquirer.net site. It's a classic case of choosing to make a decision at the wrong time and later regretting you did. We've all done this (no, not commit homicide), making a decision when we're not prepared thus suffering the consequence after. Here are some suggestions when to delay decisions. Delay decisions when: - you're busting to use the nearest toilet.
- you're under extreme stress.
- you're hallucinating.
- you have only one perspective.
- it's not yours to make.
- you don't have all the facts.
- you're hungry.
- you haven't slept for 48 hours.
- it's raining, you're going against the traffic, you're angry and you have a gun.
Got any ideas? Do share...
Had lunch at the beach house yesterday with Renee. No it's not ours and no it's nowhere near a beach. It's a small eatery found in UP Dilliman, Quezon City, between the UP library & the Sunken Garden. There wasn't even any sand anywhere. I would be interesting to know the history of how it received its name. I just don't know what it is. Anyone? I've eaten here several times. I first discovered it while courting Renee several years back. She was then a student at UP & I was a novice Pastor at our local church. What's good: student priced meals, yummy barbecue, home cooked style meals, Pinoy delicacies. What's not so good: no sand or beach...

Frisbee throwing clubs, cheerers, kiddie soccer club, joggers, students, students studying, people pretending to study, friends waiting for friends, stall sellers, stalls / tiangge, scrunchie kids, taho vendor, cars passing through, UP IKOT, UP TOKI, families taking a stroll, students lazing around on the grass, lovers, security guards, beach house, food, husbands accompanying their wives and waiting for them to finish class...
All kinds were found in and around the UP sunken garden on Saturday, 9 December 2006 @ 9:00am. I was one of them.

I've heard that said countless times by individuals who use it as an excuse for not being able to give a gift during birthdays, weddings and other occasions that traditionally require gifts. I've always been happy just having people around. The fact that they came upon YOUR/MY invitation somehow tells of your importance/value to them. Weather it be for good or not so good reasons, let's leave it at that.
Today however, I was particularly thankful for the way some people expressed their thoughts for me. It was my birthday. My dad Pete wrote me a card. So what's a so good about writing a card you say. He's undergoing physical therapy due to a mild stroke impairing his motor skills. It's a big thing for him, and for me because he chose to exert a significant effort just to write me and express his blessing. The youth leaders creatively expressed their thoughts by pasting their head pics on a giant card and writing a note of appreciation. And of course my wife who unselfishly initiated my plans for executing this thanksgiving event. Her selflessness is a testimony of God's love.
Maybe next time we need to think twice before we use the cliche as an excuse. The truth is even if we don't say it, the thought does count. Here's another cliche, "action speaks louder than words", or thoughts for that matter.

On a regular day you'd find me around Mandaluyong and Pasig. My former office, in-laws, Megamall, cafes & restos are located in Manda. Pasig is where I live. But today I didn't have the regular. My mid-morning til lunch was spent in Paco, Manila City. More specifically at Central Assembly for a planning meeting with the National Youth Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God. We'll be planting a student church in Los Banos, Laguna and the university belt of Manila City come summer 2007. I'm anxious since it'll be the first church planting project the NYMNet will be spearheading and my first as one of the coordinators... We had lunch at Robinson's Place food court, Manila. I found it a little noisy. Don't know if it was because of the acoustics of the building or lack there of or that's just how Manila City is. It's been a while since I visited Rob Place. I think the last was a few years back when Renz was still teaching at De La Salle uni (2003-2004). Early this am I received text msg from my only cousin on my mom's side here in Manila requesting me to accompany her to the airport to pick up her big sis, Ethel, who was coming in from Dubai. This was a surprise since she was only here last July of was it Feb. Apparently she just needed to get out of her work environment due to stress. It was good seeing her again. While waiting at the airport I heard my name called by a child's voice. I ignored the celebrity voice inside me and realized that it was Ptr. Rodel's son, Kayel (tama ba?). They were there to pick his younger sis also coming in from Dubai on the same flight. When Ethel finally came out we had to endure the super slow traffic exiting from Villamor airbase to Fort Bonifacio. It was 5:30 (rush hour) and the 4 lane was merging to 2 then 1 because a the flyover construction to & from SLEX to & from Villamor (did u get that eh?!). When we finally broke free, we dropped by the house for hi & hello then went to The Podium with Renz & Nav for dinner. The evening ended with me being given a new shirt quite unexpected but thanks 'cuz! Will tomorrow be a regular day?... This is one of my longest blog... sorry... heheh...

I'm not much for reviewing books I've read but this one really hit the clash cymbal in my soul! thanks to Shane! This book as it professes will disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed. It's time to stop being self-centered Christians and live by loving God with all and loving others... It's not the great things we do that will change the world but the small things done with great LOVE! - Mother Teresa, Culcutta, India.
